DESCRIPTION:  \nLecturer:  Amanda Clark\, Public Historian\, Missouri Historical Society \nDate:  May 6th\, 2026\, Wednesday at 6:00 PM \nLocation:  Landmarks Office\, 1805 S. 9th Street\, Saint Louis\, MO 63104 \nSynopsis:  For more than 60 years\, the 10-block historic district just north of the Gateway Arch has been shaped by an ongoing push and pull between preservation and development. In this talk\, Amanda Clark\, Public Historian with the Missouri Historical Society\, traces the cycles of reinvention that have defined Laclede’s Landing. Attendees will come away with a deeper understanding of how the neighborhood’s fortunes have shifted over time as well as how its story mirrors the evolving challenges of historic preservation today. \nBio:  Amanda Clark is a public historian with the Missouri Historical Society as well as the manager of the See STL Tours program. Her work includes not only tours but also research\, writing\, and exhibit development. She served as content lead for the Eads Bridge at 150 exhibit\, the Yours Forever exhibit about Forest Park\, and the upcoming Marvel in Motion exhibit about the 1904 World’s Fair Ferris Wheel.
