ABOUT THE MOST ENHANCED
Recognizing Excellence in Preservation
Each May, during our annual Most Enhanced Awards Ceremony, we recognize projects that exemplify excellence in preservation. Winners are selected based on the architectural and cultural importance of the building, the complexity of the restoration, the project’s inspirational value, and its impact on the surrounding community.

Honoring since 1996
History of The Awards
In 1992, Landmarks Association launched the Most Endangered list, a community-nominated effort to spotlight historic properties across the St. Louis metropolitan area that were in danger of being lost to demolition. This initiative brought public attention to the urgent need for preservation and sparked citywide conversations around architectural heritage.
Building on that momentum, in 1996, Landmarks introduced the Most Enhanced Awards to honor outstanding achievements in historic rehabilitation. These awards celebrate projects that not only preserve significant structures but also overcome complex challenges, inspire community pride, and contribute meaningfully to neighborhood revitalization.
