WHAT WE DO
Advocacy & Services
Landmarks is the primary advocate for the region’s built environment, we support the St. Louis area in many ways, including:
Empowering Success Together
Advocacy Letters
Our advocacy letters help amplify the community’s voice in support of preserving St. Louis’ historic architecture and cultural landmarks. Submitted by Landmarks and concerned citizens alike, these letters are shared with city officials, developers, and decision-makers during public meetings and reviews. By contributing a letter, you can play a direct role in shaping the future of our city’s built environment.

Investing in Preservation
Grant Program
The Landmarks Association’s grant program supports efforts to preserve, restore, and celebrate St. Louis’ historic buildings and neighborhoods. Open to individuals, organizations, and community groups, these grants provide critical funding for projects that uphold the city’s architectural and cultural heritage. By investing in preservation, we help ensure that the stories embedded in our built environment continue to inspire future generations.
GUIDING PRESERVATION DOCUMENTATION
National Register Nominations & Surveys
Landmarks has played a leading role in identifying, documenting, and securing recognition for St. Louis’ historic places. Through decades of survey work and successful National Register nominations, we’ve helped protect hundreds of buildings and districts that reflect the city’s architectural and cultural heritage. These efforts continue to guide preservation priorities and celebrate the places that make St. Louis unique.

UnCovering stories
House Histories
Every building has a story—Landmarks helps uncover it. Through detailed research into architecture, ownership records, and historical context, our House Histories program reveals the unique past of homes across St. Louis. Whether you’re a homeowner, researcher, or preservation advocate, these histories connect you more deeply to the city’s rich and layered heritage.
