Landmarks Association is honored to be among the 52 nonprofits selected to receive funding from the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis (RAC) during its 2025 grant cycle. This vital support reinforces a partnership that has spanned decades and continues to sustain our core educational and advocacy programming focused on the preservation and appreciation of the built environment in St. Louis.
RAC’s investment helps ensure that our longstanding programs, such as the “What Are Buildings Made Of?” (WABMO) and our seasonal lecture series, remain accessible, innovative, and impactful. As our programs continue to evolve, they engage not only younger students but also adult learners, university partners, and community organizations. Through hands-on exploration and discussion, program attendees consider the artistic, cultural, and environmental significance of St. Louis’ architectural heritage while learning about sustainability, adaptive reuse, and the creative potential of historic spaces.
In addition to education, Landmarks’ advocacy efforts align closely with RAC’s mission to foster aesthetic excellence and cultural vitality in our region. Through our research and advocacy, we connect people to the layered histories of their neighborhoods and encourage stewardship of our city’s historic narratives. We believe that by elevating the stories embedded in our built environment, we nurture civic pride, preserve cultural memory, and contribute to a more inspiring future for all residents.
As part of their 40th anniversary celebration, RAC is inviting the community to a “40th Birthday Bash” on August 28th at Midway West @ Union Station. Designed as a one-of-a-kind fusion of festival and family reunion, the event will feature live performances, hands-on creative activities, and appearances by some of St. Louis’ most exciting artists and arts organizations. Whether you’re a longtime grantee, a local creative, or simply someone who believes in the power of the arts, this is a milestone worth celebrating.
We extend our deepest thanks to the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis for their continued belief in our work and their leadership in championing creativity across our city and county. As we look ahead, we remain committed to our mission: to document, preserve, and promote St. Louis’ remarkable architectural legacy and to help all who call this place home see themselves as part of that story.
