On July 21st, 2014, David Weible of the National Trust for Historic Preservation published a retrospective on the cultural significance of the condemned St. Louis Palladium Building. As part of his research, Weible interviewed former Landmarks executive director Andrew Weil for a comment on the building’s importance. You can read Weible’s full article here.
The Palladium Building has been vacant since 2010. This year, Landmarks was fortunate to have received six of the original lion head statues that crowned the building’s exterior walls. Board President Jean Webb restored one of the statues, which we are now offering to a single winner in a raffle that runs until our Savor the Past, Celebrate the Future event on October 10th. You can buy tickets for a chance to win the statue on our website here.
