Learn how German immigrants and their descendants impacted the built environment in St. Louis. The talk will look at buildings and architects from 1840 through the early 20th century. Included in the talk will be better known architects, like Edmund Jungenfeld, Otto Wilhelmi, and Ernst C. Janssen, as well as lesser known architects, like Henry E. Peipers, Louis Kledus, and Franz Saler.
Nathan Jackson is an architectural historian who runs the Facebook page and tour company, St. Louis History and Architecture. Nathan’s work illustrates the history of St. Louis through the lens of its 19th and early 20th century architecture by connecting the city’s buildings with the people who lived there. Nathan has a BA in history from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
