

Alton Tour

$35.00Explore the historic heart of Alton with a guided walking tour that highlights both preservation successes and future opportunities. Starting on the east end of downtown and moving west, we’ll visit examples of successful adaptive reuse, see sites with redevelopment potential, and even step inside select buildings. Along the way, enjoy a refreshment stop and insights into Alton’s unique history.
Tour length: just under one mile with steep hills, stairs, and extended walking — comfortable shoes recommended. A shuttle will be provided at the end of the tour to bring guests back to their cars.

Meeting Location: The Wedge, 620 E. Broadway, Alton, IL 62002 ~ meet on the sidewalk at the apex of the Wedge (E. 3rd Street and E Broadway)
Parking: Gravel lot at E. Broadway & Ridge Street (behind Flock, 210 Ridge Street)

Make a day of it: The tour coincides with the final Alton Farmers & Artisans Market (Henry Street & Landmarks Blvd.), plus goat yoga at 9 AM! Afterward, enjoy lunch downtown at spots like The Old Bakery Beer Company (400 Landmarks Blvd.), a successful adaptive reuse story.
