On March 28th, 2022, Andrea Y. Henderson and Jeremy D. Goodwin of St. Louis Public Radio published a piece covering the St. Louis Preservation Board’s decision to provide preliminary approval to the St. Louis Symphony for their plan to renovate and expand Powell Hall. A key component of this renovation included demolishing the historic Culver House next to Powell Hall. The report included quotes made by former Landmarks executive director Andrew Weil and Landmarks Urbanite Paul Hohmann at the Preservation Board meeting in opposition of the historic home’s demolition. Despite the efforts of many local preservationists, the Culver House was demolished later that year. You can read the piece here.
